Astro Vastu: How Astrology and Vastu Work Together
Astro Vastu is a personalised branch of Vastu Shastra that combines your Vedic birth chart with the eight directional zones of your home. It identifies which planets are strong or weak in your chart and prescribes directional, colour and elemental remedies tuned specifically to you.
In over three decades of consulting from our offices in Aurangabad and Pune, we have watched the same Vastu remedy heal one family and do very little for the next. The difference was never the remedy. It was the person living with it. That is what Astro Vastu addresses.
What is Astro Vastu, in one paragraph?
Astro Vastu is a personalised branch of Vastu Shastra that layers your Vedic birth chart (Janma Kundali) over the eight directional zones of a home or office. Instead of applying generic north-east or south-west rules, it identifies which planets are strong or weak for you, and prescribes directional, colour and elemental remedies that support your unique chart. It is the difference between off-the-rack and tailored.
How is Astro Vastu different from regular Vastu?
Regular Vastu treats a building as a standalone energy system. The north-east is for water and prayer, the south-east is for fire and the kitchen, the south-west is for stability and the master bedroom. These rules are universal and they work - up to a point. What they do not answer is why two brothers in identical adjacent flats can experience wildly different fortunes.
Astro Vastu answers that. Your birth chart shows which of the nine planets (Navagraha) govern which areas of your life - career, marriage, health, wealth, children. Each planet has a natural direction. Sun rules the east, Moon the north-west, Mars the south, Mercury the north, Jupiter the north-east, Venus the south-east, Saturn the west, Rahu the south-west, and Ketu occupies a subtle axis. When a planet is weak or afflicted in your chart, we strengthen its direction in your home. When it is malefic, we soften it. This is what makes Astro Vastu personal.
How do horoscope and directions actually combine?
In a typical Astro Vastu consultation, we do three things in sequence. First, we cast the client's Vedic birth chart and identify the three or four planets doing the heaviest lifting - for career, relationships and health. Second, we walk the floor plan with a compass and locate each planetary zone precisely; a five-degree drift changes the diagnosis. Third, we cross-reference: if your Saturn is weak and your west zone happens to house the toilet, that is a real problem, and we design the correction around it.
The remedies themselves are rarely structural. Most of what we prescribe is quiet: a specific metal, a specific colour on one wall, a Yantra placed at eye height, a plant, sometimes a gemstone worn on the correct finger on the correct day of the week. In three decades I have never asked a client to break down a wall as the first line of advice. That is not how classical Vastu works.
When should you consider an Astro Vastu consultation?
Regular Vastu is enough when a home simply "feels heavy" and there is no deeper personal pattern. Astro Vastu is the right call when the same difficulty keeps returning - a career that stalls at the same rung, health issues that circle back, relationships that fray in the same season. These are chart-level patterns, and directional work alone will not resolve them. The chart tells you which door of the house is your door, and Vastu makes that door work.
We also recommend it strongly before three life events: buying a new home, starting a business, and after a significant chart transit such as Sade Sati or a major Dasha change. Getting the Astro Vastu right before you sign a lease is far cheaper than remediating a mismatch afterwards.
Practical signs your home needs an Astro Vastu review
- Persistent financial stagnation despite hard work.
- Sleep disturbances that started after moving in.
- Recurring health issues concentrated in one member of the family.
- Career opportunities that arrive and then quietly disappear.
- A directional zone that houses a heavy negative (toilet in the north-east, kitchen in the north)
How does Divyam Vaastu approach Astro Vastu?
Our method is deliberately unhurried. Before I visit a site, I study the birth charts of the primary residents - usually the head of the family, the spouse and any child whose room is on the plan. On the visit itself, we use a professional compass, a pendulum for subtle energy checks, and a written checklist covering all sixteen directional sub-zones. I sit with the family for at least an hour before recommending anything, because remedies that ignore the family's daily rhythm quietly fail.
Every Astro Vastu consultation ends with a written report - no verbal advice that gets forgotten by the following week. The report lists each dosha, the planetary link, the recommended remedy, the direction, the timing (some remedies are activated on specific days), and a review timeline. Where a gemstone or Rudraksha is prescribed, we source it from our own verified collection so the client is not left navigating the market alone.
Can Astro Vastu be done remotely?
Yes, and we do it often for NRI clients across the UK, USA, UAE, Singapore and Australia. Remote Astro Vastu requires two things: an accurate compass-oriented floor plan (we send instructions), and clean birth data for the residents. The chart reading, the directional overlay and the remedy design happen the same way. What changes is that we conduct the final walkthrough over video call. For our on-site work in India, our teams operate out of Aurangabad and Pune, with regular visits to Mumbai, Nashik and Nagpur.
A short note from Avinash Maggirwar
When I began this practice in 1992, most Vastu consultants worked with the compass alone. I found repeatedly that clients whose homes were "perfect" on paper were still struggling - and clients whose homes were technically imperfect were thriving. The chart was the missing variable. Astro Vastu is not a modern invention; it is the older, fuller way. If you are unsure whether you need it, read our Complete Vastu Shastra Guide and our Vedic birth chart guide first. If the pattern of your life is asking for something more personal, you will know.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is astro vastu?
Astro Vastu is a personalised form of Vastu Shastra that layers your Vedic birth chart over the eight directions of your home. Instead of generic rules, it prescribes directional, colour and elemental remedies aligned to the specific planets that are strong or weak in your chart.
How is astro vastu different from normal vastu?
Regular Vastu treats the building as a standalone energy system with universal rules. Astro Vastu adds your birth chart on top, so remedies are tuned to your personal planetary strengths and weaknesses. This is why two people in identical flats often need very different corrections.
When should I book an astro vastu consultation?
Book Astro Vastu when the same difficulty keeps returning despite general Vastu work - career stalls, chronic health issues, relationship patterns - or before major decisions like buying a home, starting a business, or during a significant Dasha or Sade Sati transit.
Can astro vastu be done remotely?
Yes. Remote Astro Vastu needs an accurate compass-oriented floor plan and correct birth details for the residents. Chart reading, directional overlay and remedy design happen the same way; the walkthrough is conducted over video call. We do this regularly for NRI clients.
How much does an astro vastu consultation cost?
Fees depend on property size, whether it is residential or commercial, and on-site versus remote. We share a transparent quote after understanding your requirements - please enquire via our contact page for a personalised estimate.
