Reiki, Sound Healing, Akashic Records and Pranic Healing Compared

A side by side guide to the four healing and reading sessions we offer: what happens in each, how a session runs, which can be held online, and how to choose between them.

Quick Answer: Reiki and pranic healing are no touch energy practices, sound healing is a relaxation session built around singing bowls, and an Akashic Records reading is a guided conversation. At Divyam Vaastu, Reiki, sound healing and Akashic Records are offered online and in person, and all four are for relaxation and wellbeing.
Key Takeaways
- Reiki: quiet, hands off, usually lying down, also offered as distance Reiki
- Sound healing: singing bowls and instruments, good for people who find silence hard
- Akashic Records: a guided conversation, changes least between online and in person
- Pranic healing: a structured no touch practice following set protocols
- All four are for relaxation and wellbeing, not medical treatment
This comparison answers the questions clients most often ask us before choosing between the healing and reading sessions Mrs. Jayashree Maggirwar and Mrs. Preeti Maggirwar offer.
Reiki, sound healing, Akashic Records readings and pranic healing are often grouped together as "spiritual healing", but they are quite different experiences. Two are hands off energy practices, one is built around sound, and one is a guided conversation. This guide compares the four as we offer them at Divyam Vaastu, so you can see what each involves before you choose.
For how these methods are combined with a birth chart reading in one consultation, see how astrology and healing work together; for the Akashic Records on their own, see what the Akashic Records are.
All four are offered for relaxation, reflection and general wellbeing. None of them is a medical or psychological treatment, and none replaces care from a qualified professional.

Reiki
Reiki is a Japanese practice in which the practitioner works with what the tradition calls universal life energy. You rest, fully clothed, while the practitioner works quietly, usually without touch. Clients most often describe it as calming and restful. Mrs. Jayashree Maggirwar has practised Reiki since 2013.
A Reiki session runs in four stages:
- A short conversation about how you are and what you would like from the session.
- You settle, lying down or seated, in a quiet room.
- The practitioner works in silence while you rest.
- A few minutes to come round, and time to ask anything afterwards.
Who it suits: people who want a quiet, restful session with little talking, and people who cannot easily travel, since Reiki is also offered at a distance. Read more on our distance Reiki and Reiki healing page.
Sound healing
A sound healing session uses singing bowls and other instruments to create layered, sustained tones while you lie or sit comfortably. It is the most sensory of the four: you are listening rather than talking. Mrs. Jayashree Maggirwar has offered sound healing since 2019.
A sound healing session runs in four stages:
- A brief introduction to the instruments and what to expect.
- You settle into a comfortable position and close your eyes if you wish.
- The practitioner plays, moving between instruments and pace.
- The sound fades, you rest for a moment, and there is time for questions.
Who it suits: people who find it hard to switch off in silence and prefer something to focus on. Online, headphones make a real difference. See our online sound healing sessions page.
Akashic Records reading
An Akashic Records reading is a guided conversation rather than an energy session. In spiritual tradition, the Akashic Records are described as a record of each soul's journey; the reading uses that frame to reflect on recurring patterns and life direction. You bring a question, and the practitioner explores it with you. Mrs. Jayashree Maggirwar has read the Akashic Records since 2019, and Mrs. Preeti Maggirwar also reads them.
A reading runs in four stages:
- You share the question or theme you want to explore.
- The practitioner opens the session.
- A reflective conversation follows, and you can steer it throughout.
- The practitioner closes the session and you have time for final questions.
Who it suits: people who want to talk something through and leave with words for it. It changes least between online and in person, because the heart of it is the conversation. Visit our Akashic Records reading online page.
Pranic healing
Pranic healing is a structured, no touch practice that works with prana, the life force described in Indian tradition. It follows set protocols, and the practitioner works at a short distance from you rather than through touch. Like Reiki, it is offered at Divyam Vaastu by Mrs. Jayashree Maggirwar for relaxation and wellbeing.
A pranic healing session runs in three stages:
- A short conversation about what you would like from the session.
- You sit or stand comfortably while the practitioner works through the protocol.
- Time to settle and ask questions afterwards.
Who it suits: people who like a structured, clearly defined practice. Contact us to ask about pranic healing sessions.
Reiki vs pranic healing: the main differences
Reiki and pranic healing are the two most often confused, because both are no touch energy practices. The differences are in method rather than purpose:
- Structure: pranic healing follows defined protocols; Reiki is more intuitive and open ended.
- Your position: Reiki is usually received lying down; pranic healing is often received seated or standing.
- Pace: Reiki is slow and still throughout; pranic healing involves more visible movement from the practitioner.
Neither is "stronger". The better choice is the one you find more comfortable.
Distance healing and remote energy healing
Distance healing, sometimes called remote energy healing, simply means receiving a session without being in the same room as the practitioner. At Divyam Vaastu, Reiki and sound healing are both offered this way by video call, and Akashic Records readings are held online as a matter of course.
A distance session works in four stages:
- Booking: message us with your city and time zone, and we agree a time by appointment.
- Preparing: choose a quiet, private room, a comfortable place to lie or sit, and a phone, tablet or laptop with a steady connection. Headphones help for sound healing.
- The session: the practitioner opens the call, checks in with you, and then works while you rest or listen.
- Afterwards: a few minutes to come round and ask questions before the call ends.
Clients describe distance sessions as calming in much the same way as in person sessions. What differs is the setting: in person you are in a quiet room at our office, away from home; online you are in your own space, which some people find easier to relax in and others harder. Dowsing, by contrast, is never offered remotely.
How to choose between them
- If you want to rest and not talk: Reiki.
- If silence makes you restless: sound healing.
- If you want to talk something through: an Akashic Records reading.
- If you prefer a structured practice: pranic healing.
If you are still unsure, ask us. We would rather suggest the session that fits than the one that sounds most interesting. Mrs. Jayashree also offers numerology consultations, and if you are interested in how astrology relates to these practices, that is covered in our separate astrology and healing guide.
Where sessions are held
Online by video call for clients anywhere in India and abroad, and in person at our head office in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (Aurangabad) and our Pune branch office. All sessions are by appointment. For clients in the USA, see our work with clients across the USA.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Reiki and pranic healing?
Both are no touch energy practices. Pranic healing follows defined protocols and is often received seated or standing; Reiki is more open ended and usually received lying down.
Does distance reiki work over video?
Distance Reiki is offered by video call. Clients describe the sessions as calming in much the same way as in person sessions. It is a wellbeing practice, not a treatment with a proven effect.
What is remote energy healing?
It means receiving an energy session such as Reiki without being in the same room as the practitioner, usually by video call.
Which healing session is best for beginners?
Sound healing is often the easiest start because you simply listen. Reiki suits people who want a quiet rest, and an Akashic Records reading suits people who want to talk.
Can I have sound healing online?
Yes. Sound healing is held by video call as well as in person. Headphones and a quiet room make the online session much better.
Are these sessions a medical treatment?
No. They are offered for relaxation, reflection and general wellbeing, and are not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.
